7 Steps to Controlling Your Mystery Symptoms
Ever wonder why some people with mystery symptoms are always ill and others lead a full life enjoying all of their favorite activities? Contrary to what you may think, mystery symptoms don’t have to mean the end of your life. Here are the seven simple steps to help you regain freedom and control over your life.
- Understand your symptoms and the effects they have on your body. The more specific and concise you can be the better. This is the most important step you can take to prepare yourself for working with a practitioner.
- Increase awareness of your body. Learn what causes your symptoms to flair up and how long the flair ups last.
- Identify ways to lessen your symptoms. What can you do to decrease the frequency or duration of your flair ups? Figure this out and you’ll be able to focus less on your symptoms and spend more time finding a practitioner who can help.
- Decide if you prefer to follow traditional or alternative means of addressing your symptoms and then find an appropriate practitioner. Be thorough in your search. You’ll thank yourself later when you realize how much time you’ve saved by not jumping from practitioner to practitioner.
- Determine your commitment level. Are you willing to do EVERYTHING that’s asked of you or do you have boundaries? Figuring out your level of commitment will help you make realistic decisions about your healthcare.
- Work with your practitioner to treat your condition or symptoms in a way that works for your lifestyle. Remember, lasting changes are those that fit your personality and are true to who you are.
- Maintain your new lifestyle. Once you start feeling better, it’s tempting to revert back to your old ways. However, it’s important that you not forget the level of awareness you’ve developed over the course of your wellness journey.
